LEGO® Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots (72423): First-Ever LEGO Shrek Sets Revealed for 25th Anniversary

LEGO® has finally ventured into the swamp. On 23 April 2026, the LEGO Group and Universal Products & Experiences revealed the very first LEGO® Shrek sets, timed to celebrate 25 years of DreamWorks Animation's™ beloved franchise. Two sets launch on 1 June 2026: one for adults, one for younger builders. Both are available to pre-order now.

What's in the Set

The adult-focused set, LEGO Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots (72423), is a 1,403-piece posable display build aimed at ages 18+. It features brick-built versions of Shrek and Donkey, plus a Puss in Boots minifigure, all set on a swamp base complete with the iconic "Beware Ogre!" sign.

Details include sunflowers, an onion, and a blue flower with red thorns. There are also hidden Easter eggs tucked inside Shrek's midsection. It measures over 24 cm high, 21 cm wide, and 16 cm deep.

The second set is the LEGO BrickHeadz™ Shrek, Donkey & Gingy (40923), a 259-piece build for ages 10+. It includes all three characters in the signature square-headed BrickHeadz style, with playful details like Donkey's smile and Gingy's icing buttons. A "Beware Ogre" sign is included here too.

The Detail

Both sets are rich with nods to the films. The adult set leans into the collector side of things: posable figures, a detailed environment, and Easter eggs that reward close attention. It's the kind of build that looks deliberate on a shelf.

LEGO's Creative Lead Raquel Ojeda described Shrek as a franchise that translates naturally into LEGO play, citing the themes of imagination, friendship, and mischief. She also hinted this is only the beginning for LEGO Shrek, with more sets to come.

The cultural timing matters too. Shrek 5 is confirmed for 2027, with Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy all returning. These sets aren't just nostalgia — they're the start of something bigger.
