LEGO® Ideas 21363: The Goonies — Set Breakdown & Limited Edition Display Case
They say Goonies never say die, and neither does the cultural legacy of this beloved 1985 classic. Now, four decades after the gang first ventured underground in search of pirate gold, LEGO has immortalised their journey in brick form. LEGO Ideas 21363: The Goonies is the latest fan-designed set to hit shelves, and it's a treasure trove of nostalgia, detail, and thoughtful design choices that feel tailor-made for fans of the film.

A Legendary Finale, Captured in Brick
The set recreates the film's final act with remarkable fidelity, complete with the subterranean caverns, booby traps, and of course, the legendary pirate ship, The Inferno. The build unfolds into two distinct sections: above ground and below ground. You start by constructing the rocky cave system, with all its hidden mechanisms and story-driven flourishes, before eventually revealing the crown jewel, a full-length pirate galleon, nestled in its own cavern. It's a dramatic pay-off worthy of a Spielberg final act.

Made to Play. Made to Display.
What's immediately striking is how play and display are so delicately balanced. For collectors, the towering mast and layered terrain make this a standout shelf piece. For fans of interaction, the inclusion of working traps, skeleton keys, and even a "falling boulder" trap shows that this is no static model; it's a story waiting to be retold. LEGO has also opted for printed elements over stickers throughout, lending a more premium finish that ensures this model looks sharp from every angle.

A Full Cast of Misfits and Legends
Then there are the minifigures. Twelve characters are included, from Mikey and Mouth to the Fratelli brothers and a perfectly spooky One-Eyed Willy, and each one brings their own energy to the build. Whether it's Chunk's unmistakable shirt print or Sloth's Superman tee, the design team clearly had fun with the details. Even the skeleton organ makes an appearance, a deep-cut reference that shows how much care went into shaping this from a fan's perspective.

From Idea to Reality
Of course, this is a LEGO Ideas set, and it began as just that: an idea. Submitted by superfan "BroadwayBricks," the concept quickly gained traction online and, after reaching 10,000 supporters, was greenlit for production. The final version, developed in collaboration with original cast member Ke Huy Quan (Data), remains true to the original concept while elevating it with refined construction techniques, more immersive scenery, and storytelling elements that reward close inspection.

Built for Adventure. Ready for Display.
Size-wise, the set clocks in at nearly 3,000 pieces, and once assembled, it commands a fair amount of shelf presence, 62 cm long and over 30 cm tall. It's not oversized for the sake of it, though. Every part feels intentional. From the twisted rock archways to the aged planks of the ship's deck, this is a model that's as enjoyable to build as it is to admire once finished.
Much like the journey of the Goonies themselves, the appeal lies in the details, the lantern-lit path, the hints of hidden treasure, and the suggestion that adventure is just around the corner. It's that sense of wonder that makes this set such a rewarding tribute to the film.
