LEGO® Icons Douglas™ DC-3 Pan Am® Airliner (11378): A Classic Aviation Icon in Brick Form
LEGO continues its run of aviation-inspired display pieces with the reveal of the Douglas™ DC-3 Pan Am® Airliner (11378), a set that celebrates one of the most influential aircraft in aviation history.
Following in the footsteps of standout releases like the LEGO Concorde, this latest LEGO Icons model brings a timeless commercial airliner into brick form, blending historical significance with detailed design.

A True Aviation Icon
First introduced in the 1930s, the Douglas DC-3 transformed air travel, making commercial flying more accessible, reliable and comfortable. Its legacy still holds today, with some aircraft still in operation nearly a century later. This LEGO version captures that legacy through the iconic Pan Am “Globe” livery, one of the most recognisable airline designs ever to take to the skies. It’s a natural choice for a display model, instantly identifiable, clean in its lines, and rooted in aviation history.

What’s Included in the Build
The 1,903-piece set is designed as an 18+ display model, offering a detailed recreation of the aircraft both inside and out.
Externally, the model focuses on the DC-3’s unmistakable silhouette, from its rounded fuselage to its twin-engine wings. Internally, LEGO has taken it a step further, incorporating a detailed cockpit and passenger cabin, allowing builders to explore the aircraft beyond its exterior shell.
The set also includes four minifigures dressed in Pan Am aircrew uniforms, bringing an extra layer of storytelling and scale to the finished model.

Authentic Features and Functions
- Retractable landing gear, operated via a simple dial mechanism
- A fully realised cockpit and seating area
- Carefully shaped components to recreate the aircraft’s smooth curves
These features strike a balance between realism and buildability, giving the set both visual accuracy and interactive appeal.

Designed for Display
Like many LEGO Icons releases, the DC-3 is clearly designed with display in mind. Its long wingspan and clean, symmetrical design make it a natural centrepiece, whether placed on a shelf, desk or within a larger LEGO collection.
